Coorg (Madikeri or Mercara) is a very beautiful hill town in Western Ghat. It is also known as the ‘Scottland of India’. Many top tourist spots are in Coorg District. The green woody slopes, colorful scenery, misty mountains, cascading falls, dense tropical forest, tea, coffee, and spice plantations made this place a paradise for nature lovers.

1. Abbey Falls:

Abbey Falls is one of the top tourist spots in Coorg. It is a waterfall in Coorg in the Water Ghat of Karnataka. It is located 8km away from Coorg. The waterfall is on the early reaches of the river Kaveri, located between private coffee plantations with stocky coffee bushes and spice estates and trees entwined with pepper vines. There is a hanging bridge constructed just opposite the falls. Flow is much higher during the monsoon season.

2. Iruppu Falls:

Iruppu falls are another top tourist spot in Coorg. It is located in the Brahmagiri Range in the Coorg District.  It is a freshwater cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole. The Falls are known as Lakshmana Tirtha Falls.  Irupu falls is a major tourist attraction as well as a pilgrimage spot.

3. Raja’s Tomb, Coorg

Raja’s Tomb is one of the top tourist spots in the Coorg district. It is situated 1.5km away from the Coorg bus stand. Raja’s Name were Lingarajendra and Veerarajendra. 4. Tadiandamol Peak:

Tadiandamol Peak is also one of the top tourist spots in Coorg. It is the third highest peak in Karnataka. It is located in the Western Ghats range, at an elevation of 1,748 meters. The mountain has patches of shola forests in the valleys. The mountain is popular amongst trekking enthusiasts and nature lovers. The trek to the peak starts from the Forest entry point, where one needs to buy tickets for the trek.

5.  Barapole River:

Barapole River Rafting is the best tourist adventure spot in Coorg. It is a famous spot for white river rafting in Coorg, Karnataka. White water rafting in the Barapole River is one of the most popular things to do as part of Coorg Tour Packages. The real length of this run is between 3 – 4 km and the whole rafting session keeps going for around 3 hours. The minimum age requirement for this trip is 13 years. Adults should be in reasonably good health and weigh less than 110 kg. Knowledge of swimming is not mandatory.

7. Kote Betta Hill:

Kote Betta Hills is a popular tourist spot in Coorg. It is located in Madapur between the towns of  Somwarpet and Madikeri. It is at a height of approximately 1620m above sea level. Kote Betta means Fort Hill. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva at the peak of the hill. Many points must visit like Trekking, Photography, cherishing nature’s beauty, Bridge, Eco Valley, Shiva temple, Camping, etc.

8.  Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary:

 Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary is most of the top tourist spots in Coorg. It is the popular bird sanctuaries of the world. It is located in the State of Karnataka. This wildlife sanctuary is one of the 21 well-known wildlife sanctuaries. The Wildlife sanctuaries were established in 1987. It has been proposed as one of the World Heritage Sites.
